Fred S. Greenwood
nee Groenewoudt Holland 1930 |
Mr. Greenwood’s story begins in rural Holland. His tale is a testament to the fortitude and bravery of his family and the righteous people who risked their lives to save them. Like Anne Frank, Mr. Greenwood spent two years in hiding, but instead of staying in the same home, he was moved many times. His guardian felt that spending a long time in the same place was too dangerous, and given the tragic end met by the Frank family, this strategy no doubt saved his life. Surviving the war and moving to the U.S., only to be drafted to fight in the Korean War, Mr. Greenwood’s story is always captivating, sometimes amusing, and often bitter-sweet.
